The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The MiddleWow, what a week I had!  Tomorrow I will start blogging the "good" of it.  A week spent in the lovely town of Kaş, on the Turkish Mediterranean.  It was awesome!  We rented a lovely little apartment on the peninsula, right at the sea. We met a lot of interesting and great people. And we... Continue Reading →

Photos of the Day – Kas Pazar

The Kaş Pazarı is held every Friday.  It's located on Ataturk Blv, just way the peninsula meets the town.  There are a lot of good deals to be had and new things to try (like the fruit of a cactus)!  Look for local olive oil, cheeses, and of course, the vegetables of the season!

Antik Pazari – Asagi Ayranci

Ankara boasts a rather large antique bazaar.  It travels around the city and lands in my neighborhood, Asagi Ayranci, on the first Sunday of every month. I mentioned it briefly in an earlier post, "Junking," where I claimed it's "not that big."  Well, I am not sure if my perception has changed or the pazar... Continue Reading →

They have just opened, so... Continue Reading →

Recently, I had the opportunity to meet a fellow American expat who has started her own American-style bakery in Ankara.  Not only did I meet her, but I had the chance to taste some of her delicious sweets! Limes!!! (or green lemons?)

I have seen limes from time to time in Turkey, but not often. The first time was on vacation at a restaurant in Kas. I hunted them down afterwards and finally found one store selling them. They were imported and extremely expensive. More recently, I have seen them at specialty shops usually around the holidays. ... Continue Reading →

Bursa and Inegöl

Yet another holiday recently gave us the opportunity for a long weekend trip.  We decided to visit Bursa and the region of Çanakkale. We drove from Ankara, and the first stop was İnegöl.  We only stopped briefly for lunch as it is known for its İnegöl Köfte.  I got a real kick out of the newspaper on top... Continue Reading →
