  1. Hi! I have come upon your blog by accident and because I was once in exactly your position ie gelin in Ankara, I have enjoyed looking through it! Ankara is a very different place to what it was in the early seventies, I can tell you!

Now here I am some 35 years later, living in Istanbul after a whole lifetime in Turkey, and writing a cooking blog! I wondered if you might like to add it to your list? http://www.seasonalcookinturkey.blogspot.com

I’ll look out for your blog!

  2. Hi Terry,
I just discovered your blog, in some part of your posts you seemed quite familiar with German culture. Here is my question, i am looking for bratwurst or any kind of wurst in here, Ankara. I went real and some gourmet shops but they don’t have. I even made a decent search on web but could not find anything, looking for your help, best wishes…

    1. Thanks for reading the blog! Yes, I am familiar with German culture. My mother was from Germany and her family still resides there.

As for bratwurst, I have never looked for it, but I kind of recall seeing it somewhere. Your best bet is probably Real, which has a pork section, or Metro. There is also an Austrian restaurant, whose name is escaping me at the moment. You may try contacting them. Greg the “Sausage King” may also be able to help you. I am not sure whether he makes brats, and his reviews are iffy. Some love his sausages, others don’t, but he’s a great guy. His contact info is in my blog post entitled, “Shots and Sausages.” Finally, I would go to the source — the German Embassy and ask around. If I find them anywhere, I will let you know. I will be having German visitors coming in September and October, perhaps we should place an order! 🙂

  3. Does the Gluten Free Restaurant and bakery still exist? I am having trouble finding their website.
