French Vichyssoise (Leek and Potato Soup) – This version is the classic from the Joy of Cooking cookbook!

Watermelon, Tomato & Feta Salad with Mint – This refreshing summer salad is simply perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Pickled Beets & Apple Salad – I created this in Turkey, but it seems more American to me. Delicious!

Julia’s Jazzy Chicken & Jalapeno Dip – Similar to a Turkish recipe but it’s not! You simply must try this spicy one!

Terry’s Turkish Carrot SaladYoğurtlu Havuç Salatası

Sigara Boregi – A classic phyllo pastry stuffed with a feta mixture. Served as a snack with hot tea, but I like it for breakfast.

Kabak Mücveri –  (Turkish Zucchini Fritters) – fried fritters with feta cheese and dill served as lunch or a snack.

Red Cabbage Salad – A light and bold mix of flavors! With a delicate balance of red cabbage, gorgonzola cheese, golden raisins, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, all of the ingredients are very easy to find, whether in the States or in Turkey!

Zeytinyagli Pirasi (Leeks in Olive Oil) – I love this recipe of leeks, carrots and rice.  I add fresh thyme for a little kick!

Spanish Fries – an easy side dish and relatively healthy! French fries with peppers, onions, cheese, and special spice!  Ingredients can easily be found in the States, and with a little pre-thought (pick up the spice when you visit the States next time), easily made in Turkey as well!

Chipotle Turkey Tacos with Charred Corn Salsa – mmm good. Turkey Tacos made in Turkey! You never know when you need a little Mexican in your life!
