Women’s Healthcare in Ankara:  THE PELVIC FLOOR, RELATED DISORDERS AND CAUSES, AND HOW TO MAINTAIN ITS HEALTH | GIZEM ONAY COLLET

Starting the New Year off with this great post I came across today on women’s healthcare.  The blog is written in both English and Turkish.

Gizem Onay Collet is a native of Ankara.  She practices and teaches yoga including prenatal yoga and trains yoga instructors.  She also offers childbirth preparation classes and gives workshops on women’s healthcare.

Her next “Pelvic Floor” workshop will be held on January 31st in Ankara and on February 13th in Instanbul.  More details can be found on her blog.

Gizem started her career in International Relations and European Union Studies.  She also lived in Thailand where she taught yoga and also studied healing techniques of traditional Chinese and Thai medicine.  Later, she completed childbirth educator training at the USA-based Childbirth International under the sponsorship of DOUM and taught childbirth preparation classes at DOUM.

She is also a founding member of Doğana-Birthing Women’s Rights Association, a non-profit organization established with the vision that “all women in Turkey have access to respectful, family-centered, evidence-based care throughout prenatal, childbirth and postpartum phases.”

From her blog today:

More than one third of women have problems regarding pelvic floor heath. . . What are pelvic floor muscles and what do they do? . . . These disorders include things such as; – stress incontinence . . . , overactive bladder . . . ,prolapse . . . , bowel incontinence . . . Well then, what should we do?
